Manitoba’s Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) is a law that gives patients access to their own health information, but also requires individuals and organizations who have access to that information – called ‘trustees’ – to safeguard patient privacy.
DSM takes its role as a trustee seriously. Reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards are in place within DSM to protect the confidentiality, security, accuracy and integrity of the personal health information with which DSM and its employees are entrusted. All of DSM’s employees you have signed confidentiality pledges that obligate them to adhere to DSM’s PHIA policies and to the PHI Act.
To discuss issues related to privacy or to arrange access to your own health information, please contact one of DSM’s Privacy Delegates for assistance:
Aileen Chmeliuk, Director of Client Services & Privacy Officer
Kris Ryan, Client Services Coordinator & Privacy Coordinator
