Manitoba’s Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) is a law that gives patients access to their own health information, but also requires individuals and organizations who have access to that information – called ‘trustees’ – to safeguard patient privacy.
Shared Health takes its role as a trustee seriously. Reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards are in place within Shared Health to protect the confidentiality, security, accuracy and integrity of the personal health information with which Shared Health and its employees are entrusted. All of Shared Health’s employees you have signed confidentiality pledges that obligate them to adhere to Shared Health’s PHIA policies and to the PHI Act.
